The DLC was chartered in 1974 by the 7 shore line towns. Our mission is to provide leadership, guidance, and resources to preserve and restore Deal Lake and its tributaries as a healthy and stable ecosystem. In addition, control lake levels during heavy storms to the best of our ability with limited ocean tide controls.

    Deal Lake, its tributaries and watershed are regulated by Federal and State agencies. Check before you dig.

    Strict compliance with the NJDEP regulations apply to any land 50 feet adjacent to the Deal Lake shoreline as well as any land 50 feet adjacent to any stream that drains into Deal Lake.

    Property owners should contact the NJDEP before beginning any maintenance or any construction along the lake's shoreline.

    There can be consequences, including fines and time delays for proceeding with work, prior to securing the appropriate NJDEP permit(s).

    2021 DLC Planned Projects / Ideas

    2020 was very productive and successful year for the Deal Lake Commission and the lake.  From the Start of the flume improvements, contract award for our $735k Clean water grant, NJIT Blue Green Algae grant for $500k to test out methods to remove Algae, and the arrival of a family of River otters.

    Covid-19 changed the way we operated in 2020 but our dedicated professionals and Commissioners made the best of an incredibly challenging year.  We look forward to wonder year on the lake.   Don Brockel Chairman, 2020.    

     

    1. Finish Flume Electrification completion.
    2. Hardware installation of MTDs and Green infrastructure 319 grant (2017) clean water grant:
    3. Update The Living Master Plan.
    4. Education: Public and Towns: Arranged by each towns commissioner and briefed by Chair
    5. Help NJIT begin their (2020) 319 Grant for Blue /green Algae removal
    6. Continue close relationship with Clonet and MU expanded collaborations.

    9. Request Monmouth County assistance on county-controlled sections of storm water and Dams
