OLD BUSINESS
- 319(H) Grant – Dr. Szczepanski, Environmental Consultant on the 319(H) Grant, explained that his staff went out to Wesley Lake and returned the Floating Wetland Islands (FWI’s) to their original locations and they also added goose netting to the islands.
Peter Avakian, DLC Engineer, reported that they just processed the final engineering certification for the MTD’s. The rain garden specifications are being completed and once that is done they will need to go to Ocean Grove for their approval. Once we have their approval we can go out to bid for the project. There is more work that needs to be done with regard to the tree boxes. There is a problem with some of the locations. Once that is done we can go out to bid for that project also.
- 319 Grant Phase I with NJIT – No Update.
- Nobility Crest – No Update.
- Shoreline Protection/Education – Don Brockel, DLC Chairman, said it appears the State is acting on some of the properties but there really doesn’t seem to be any action taken against them yet. He would like to set up a meeting with the State to discuss the rules and regulations with homeowners disturbing the shoreline.
- Goose/Carp Remediation – Mr. Brockel reported that the USDA only does the parts of Deal Lake for Ocean, Interlaken and Loch Arbour. He would like to get a quote from them to do all of the lake next year. He also mentioned that Asbury Park has changed who they use to control the geese.
There was a brief discussion on the geese.
- Ship & Sniff Program with Clean Ocean Action – No Update.
