Lake Cleanup – Saturday, October 25th

Deal Lake October CleanupDeal Lake October Cleanup

Again, a BIG thanks to all that helped out with the Deal Lake Clean-up on Oct 25th.  The Lake just looks great.  It was most trash we took out in years.

One area I noticed yesterday that needs a good cleaning is the section between West Allenhurst and Deal.  We’ll need the help of homeowners on North Edgemere, boaters, Fishermen, and rowers to pitch in to clean this section since clean-up crews have no easy public access to these areas.  Please lend a hand to make your lake a cleaner place to live and play in.

    Monmouth University,

On behalf of the Deal Lake Commission , the hundreds of lake shore residents, and the thousands of Deal Lake users we thank the hard working students of Monmouth University on helping out with our annual Deal Lake fall clean-up.

The participants from Monmouth University’s BIG EVENT rolled up their sleeves and got right into the clean-up.

It was so wonderful that they took time from their personal life and college studies to help out our small part of the community, as well other job sites around the area.   This group of young men and women brought out of Deal Lake the most trash and debris we gathered in years. They seem to have a really good time while working hard.  These students also were great examples to the many young Boy Scouts we had helping.

The most interesting comment came when they were departing and I gave them a big loud thank you.  Seconds later, most came back with no…Thanks you!   I guess helping others really makes your soul feel good.

A special shout out to our good friends from the outdoors club who twice a year for the last 5 years have made their way over to the shores of Deal Lake with kayaks and paddle boards to help with our clean-ups.  This enthusiastic club always has a great time and brings “trash treasures” unreachable from the shore line.   They always put the finishing touch on a wonderful clean-up day.  What a wonderful job Mr. Reynolds does with this very active club.   We would like to present the club with a  special thank-you.  I’ll work with you all on making that happen.

I’m sure when the students ride over a Deal Lake bridge to Asbury park for a little fun, they will take great pride in a fabulous looking Lake, The largest lake in Monmouth County and the largest coastal lake in NJ.

Again,  Please thank the BIG EVENT participants for a job well done.

    Don Brockel, Chairman
    Deal Lake Commission
